to my future self

When I was on the bus cruising through the Tuscan countryside, I had the most wonderful daydream. Sometimes I sit and think about the good things - feelings that give you wonderful velvety butterflies in stomach and light a smile on your face, and this was one of those daydreams that gave me so joy I just had to cement it in words here.

You all know I take photographs right? & for the most part it's pre-weddings or portraitures and I've always, always loved the idea of love, even the ditzy, face palm cliche romantic stuff. (secretly) But because I am so damn awkward in front of a camera if it's for any other purpose other than a #shamelessselfie or a group photo, I can never picture myself going through a pre-wedding photoshoot, and not to mention my innate fear of PDA because "it's never like the movies". You know how hollywood kisses always look too cool to be true. Most of the time when I see people kiss in front of me, I actually have to tell myself to calm down cos it's just so. damn. awkward. Hur, I know, and I shoot people in love and I tell them to kiss every 15 minutes. Irony of life............ BUT YOU GET IT, RIGHT?!!??!

Long story short, if I ever find someone crazy enough to want to get married to me, I would never engage a photographer. I would pack up my camera, bring along my toy film cameras together with 10 rolls of film, get a pair of tickets to travel the world to all the places I'd like to go and together with my partner in crime, enjoy each other's company and take not so shameless selfies and purely enjoy each other's company without the hassle of wedding gowns or rushing through a stressful day of looking pretty. We would stop and shoot in random fields, huddle under tiny umbrellas under an august shower, dash through crowded streets, get lost in a foreign place, almost get mugged by the homeless, capture sunsets and chase sunrises with our eyes, wriggle toes in warm sand and roll around in powdery fresh snow. We'd go on african wildlife safaris and feed swans and ducks in lakes and share one too many gelato cones. Then at the end of a truly epic journey together, cosy up to a fireplace somewhere in a cottage in Switzerland with mugs of hot chocolate and look back at all the photographs and reminisce about each different location while making plans for the next trip.

Yeah, I'd like that, and a girl can dream huh?
